As you know quite a few months I've been heavily involved in environmental work of our immediate environment, cities. And is that because I will never tire of repeating, the environment also are our streets, our industrial sites, homes and buildings around us, cars harass us ... and objective of the Environmental Psychology , there are also to work to transform and improve them.
Well, the other day surprised me a story of those that make you keep hoping that it is possible to make our cities more livable places, safe and respectful:
In a ceremony in Stockholm, the European Commissioner for Environment, Janez Potočnik appointed Vitoria-Gasteiz, European Green Capital 2012. Surely you are wondering, what's Vitoria not have my city? To start a political class will surely have something more coherent than in other municipalities, provincial and regional governments, but other than that, here are a few gems:
- Plan Anti change climate (2010-2020), a project that includes all sectors except industry to achieve future emission-free city.
- Green Belt of Vitoria-Gasteiz -started in 1993 and allows all Tau have a green area within 300 m.
- Mobility Plan and Public Space , the idea is pedestrianise the center of the city and propose a significant change in mobility, encouraging cycling and public transport.
- Torres Bioclimatic in Salburúa Wetland, is a project of construction of 4 residential towers, retail and office building solar radiation achieve an internal temperature of the towers comfortable and integrating economic, architectural, landscape, environmental, urban history and modern tradition.
- Comprehensive Plan Water Saving of Vitoria-Gasteiz, which aims to reduce domestic water consumption to 100 liters per person per day.
