Because the father of Craig Nicholls was playing in a band called The Vynes, where they played covers of Elvis Presley.

in 2007 after signing with Ivy League Records and Capitol Records to leave, returned to the studio with Rob Schnapf to record their fourth album, Melody , with 14 new songs.
The first single "He's a rocker" was available on her MySpace page in June 2008.
The album topped the indie sales ranking in Australia, where after they were released as singles "Merrygoround" and "Get Out."


During the support tour for the new album's mental state Nicholls began to deteriorate forcing the band to cancel performances.


The November 14, 2009, The Vines will be presented at The Annandale Hotel, under the alias of The Crimes, supporting You am I. He began recording his fifth album in February 2010.
June 23, after two years of inactivity, The Vines returned to the stage performing live at The Annandale Hotel, Sydney. On this occasion, the band introduced new issues " Gimme love" and "Future Primitive " and played many of his greatest hits, Following the recent improvement of the lead singer of the band.
